Sail through Arribes del Duero and the UNESCO-listed Meseta Ibérica, enjoying the fauna and geology, culminating with a Port wine tasting at Terra Douro
In Arribes del Duero, we will navigate international waters in the most spectacular vertical section of Arribes del Duero and the UNESCO-listed “Meseta Ibérica” reserve. We depart from the DueroDouro International Biological Station (EBI) on the border between Zamora (Spain) and Miranda do Douro (Portugal), cruising through the Eagle Valley up to the Smugglers' Pass. During the outward journey inside the glass-enclosed interior, the EBI crew presents the Spanish-Portuguese environmental conservation projects, alongside the fauna, flora, geology, and ethnographic resources of the Reserve through onboard research equipment (directional microphone, plankton sleeve, Secchi disk, and microscope). On the return journey, all passengers enjoy open-air navigation thanks to the wide terraces of this hydrographic research vessel, also equipped with safety boats and anti-seasickness stabilizers. After disembarking back at the EBI, the cruise includes a tasting of generous Porto wines (self-service for adults) and other activities for all audiences in the Terra Douro Laboratory and the gardens of the DOURO VALLEY SHOP.
